Golf Tour Advice

We want you to have a great golfing experience. Here is some advice when playing on any of the golf courses.

Book Early

The most popular golf courses can get booked up. So book your Ayrshire Golf Tours early to avoid disappointment!

Tee Time Availability

Many golf courses have limited availability, especially at weekends. We will always try to meet your needs and will advise you of any issues when you book.

Handicap Certificate

All members of your group will be required to carry current handicap certificates. Many of the golf courses will ask for this to be shown before allowing visiting golfers on the course. Golf Made Simple in Scotland will advise you at the time of booking if any of the courses selected on your tour have a maximum handicap restriction. We cannot be held responsible if you are refused play because you have failed to comply with the above requirements.

Dress Code

Appropriate golf clothing should be worn at all times on the course and in the clubhouse. Jeans, t-shirts, trainers and collarless shirts should not be worn either on the course or in the clubhouse. Only tailored shorts will be acceptable. Golf shoes and waterproof garments are not acceptable in the clubhouse.

Some of the more traditional clubs will insist that gentleman wear a jacket, collar and tie in certain parts of the clubhouse - these clubs tend to have a strong tradition and you should view this as part of the overall experience. However, you will at least be able to access certain parts of every clubhouse wearing smart but casual golfing attire. You don't want to be refused access to the course or the clubhouse because of a failure to comply with the above requirements.

Etiquette

All members of the group must arrive on the tee 15 minutes before the designated tee-off time. Avoid slow play. Let other golfers play through if you have slowed down or lost a ball. Please ask a representative from the golf course what time a normal round should take. Please refrain from using a mobile phone on the course and in the clubhouse. Please ensure that you replace divots, rake bunkers and repair pitch marks at all times.

Behaviour

When a booking has been confirmed with us, you accept responsibility for all damage or loss caused by you or any member of your group while using any facility provided for you.

Full payment will be required as a result of this loss or damage at the time it occurs. If this payment is not provided at the time it occurs then you will in addition be responsible for any subsequent claims which may arise including legal costs.

Please give consideration to all other people during your stay and avoid danger, upset or distress to third parties.

Playing Condition

No matter what golf courses you have selected, the standard is generally excellent but we are not always aware when course maintenance is being is carried out.

Golf Made Simple in Scotland will not be held responsible for the condition of the golf courses during your tour.

In the event that a course has temporary greens in place due to winter conditions, no refunds will be given. This is an accepted part of playing golf in Scotland during inclement weather.

In the unfortunate event that a course is closed, we will endeavour without guarantee to try and obtain a partial refund or green fee voucher for future use.

Carrying Your Clubs

Pull trolleys are available at most clubs for a very modest fee so you do not need to bring one with you. If you wish the services of a caddie, some courses do provide this but they do need to be booked well in advance.

Let us know if you would like us to arrange caddies for you at any of the courses chosen. An increasing number of courses have electric buggies available for hire but walking is still the norm in Scotland. If you require an electric buggy please let us know at the time of your initial enquiry so we can ensure only courses where this is possible are included in your tour. The costs relating to caddies, trolleys and electric buggies are not normally included in your quotation.

Travel Insurance

We strongly urge you to take out package and travel insurance to cover you in the event of forced cancellation, loss or damage of luggage, golf clubs, personal injury, accident or illness. Hopefully you will not require to use it but it is best to be protected just in case.

Catering

If you require catering before or after playing golf on any given day then please let us know and we can make arrangements for this service to be provided. It may not always be possible to have the catering you require unless an advanced booking has been made.
